MY STORY
Konnichiwa!
My name is Mayumi and I’m a passionate Japanese tutor originally from a small beach town in Japan called Mihama!
Since I can remember, I have always had a passion for learning about other cultures. I made the goal of leaving Japan to be the first person in my family to learn English with the hope to make friends around the world.
After over a decade of travelling and living abroad, I had the fortune of making friends from distant places who took the time to teach me about their language and cultures. In an effort to help others the same way my friends helped me, I started Fluent Japanese!
I first taught Japanese 14 years ago in Thailand as a Teacher Volunteer. Since then I completed my Bachelor of Arts, International Culture with a specialization in Advanced Japanese Linguistics. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to further teach Japanese in Australia and Canada in both one on one formats and in-classroom settings.
