I did everything right. Years of study, a translation background, solid grammar. I could write Japanese well. But I'd never had the chance to actually speak it. When I visited Japan, I was too shy to say a word.

I walked into a tiny jazz bar in Tokyo and I just started talking. I ended up staying all night with the regulars, chatting in Japanese about Italy, about their lives. We swapped numbers. Two nights later I went back, and they remembered me. For a few days, I honestly felt like I belonged in that neighborhood!
I tried the apps, the textbooks, and none of it stuck. I just never had the motivation for all the grammar.

Very professional and punctual. I communicated beforehand what my goals were in learning the Japanese Language and Mayumi was so helpful and very patient with me. Mayumi also has a fun personality that made me feel more comfortable and motivated into speaking the Japanese language. She also gives useful feedback and politely corrects mistakes. I enjoyed learning with Mayumi. On another note, if you are shy like I am, Mayumi is very understanding! Great and fun Professor! :)
